  Louis Paul Gaber (Obituary)
Louis Paul Gaber, 87, of Crookston, Minnesota, died early sunday:
morning, May 21, 2000 at the Riverview Nursing home in
Crookston, Louis was born in Leaf Mountain Township of Otter Tail
County, Minnesota, near Clitherall, on August 3, 1912, the son of
Joseph and Anna (Prodaehl) Gaber. He grew up on the family farm
and attended District 70 rural school. Louis worked on the farm
and then in 1929 moved with his family to a farm near Euclid,
Minnesota Soon after that he went to work for the Great Northern
Railroad. Louis enlisted in the US Army on June 26,1941. He
served with the 3rd Armored Division as a tank driver in, the
European, African, and Middle Eastern Theaters of Operation during
WWII. He received several medals for his devotion to his country
before being dischargetd on November 13 , 1946 Louis returned to
the area and began work for the Great Northern Railroad again.
He retired in 1955 During semi-retirement, he worked as a carpenter,
welder, and surveyor for the US Geological Survey. He lived in the
communities of Fertile and Red Lake Falls in Minnesota before mov-
ing to Crookston in 1986 Louis was a member of Crookston VFW
Post #1920 and the DAV.

Surviving Family members include three brothers and four sisters-in-law,
Adam and Rose Gaber and Ed and Theresa Gaber, all of Crookston,
MN Dominic Gaber of Pueblo, CO, and Shirley Gaber of
Euclid, MN; a sister, Lonie Dargon of St. Hilaire, MN; and many
nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Louis was preceded in death
by his parents and five brothers,  Joseph,  Raymond, Victor, and 
David  Gaber, and an infant brother, George.
