The Crab Nebula (M1) Taken from my Back yard Stargate Observatory on 17/18 Dec 2009 with a LX200 14" GPS at F6 and a SBIG ST2000XCM.

M1 is approximately 6500 light-years away The Crab Nebula is a supernova remnant and pulsar wind nebula in the constellation of Taurus.
The nebula was first observed by John Bevis in 1731, and corresponds to a bright supernova recorded by Chinese and Arab astronomers in 1054.
